Spend Spring in Montreal
For many Chicagoans, spring thoughts actually turn to time away from the city. While there are so many great things to do in Chicago in spring, after a long winter cooped up inside, you may begin to feel fenced into your little corner of the world. If that’s the case, consider a weekend getaway to Montreal this spring.
Spring is an ideal time to visit Montreal. Flights to Montreal are cheaper now than they will be later in the summer, the peak travel time for the city. Many Montreal hotels will also be offering discounts for shoulder season, saving you even more money on your trip.
And if you can’t quite afford a trip over to France, vacations in Quebec – the province where both Montreal and Quebec City are location – can be the next best thing. The province was a former French territory and the language is still widely spoken. In fact, Montreal and Quebec are among the best places to experience French culture outside of France.
You can see either city in a long weekend or combine the two for a longer trip. Flights within Canada tend to be on the pricey side, but you can hop a train or rent a car and make the drive from Montreal to Quebec easily.
